March 2 Kicks Off Our Annual UUCE Canvass
Canvass logoEach year the Unitarian Universalist Church of Elgin (UUCE) conducts a canvass of its members and friends. The canvass serves two main purposes. During the canvass, members and friends of UUCE are provided with an opportunity to express their feelings and thoughts about UUCE, and they are asked to pledge financial support to our church.

This year's canvass began with a wonderful sermon by Rev. Dan Brosier (click here to listen) and was followed by a wonderful luncheon presented by the Canvass Committee. Learn all about this year's exciting plans at www.uuce.org/canvass.

February 16, 2008 Was Our Annual UUCE Service Auction
Service Auction themeIn addition to having a great time at a great party, we raised over $10,000!  And the big fun is yet to come as bidders enjoy the many events and services they purchased.

Our members do a lot of fun and meaningful things throughout the year but there are few opportunities when the whole community can enjoy a social evening together. Service Auction is that once a year time when we all come together to socialize, eat, have fun, celebrate, playfully bid, and share ourselves with each other.

A major joy for those of us on the Auction Planning Team is to see everyone having a such a great time together. The genuine caring among the group is everywhere evident and from that flows the generous giving. The giving of self.
The giving of service. The giving of cheer and the open hearted giving of resources.

We made it to the Emerald City together as we knew we would to discover what we knew all along ... that the gifts we give of ourselves are gifts that matter most. As we return to our daily lives in "Kansas" we can, perhaps, see a bit more of the mystery and miracle that is the essence of our daily living. Perhaps our perspective has broadened and deepend a bit? Perhaps we notice more of the "magic" in those around us?

Perhaps we have a bit of insight about the role we each play in helping those around us find their courage, brains, heart and way home?  If our trip to the Emerald City gave us even a glimmer of those gifts then it was a trip that will keep on giving for as long as we live.

Thank you again to each and every one of our UUCE community for the special and unique gift you give of yourself.
