Ethnic Eating Update
If you enjoy grilled sausages, sauerbraten or wiener schnitzel or other “light” fare, washed down by flights or liters of good beer, May’s cuisine of “Austria” was the occasion for you. Ten of us met and dined at Schnell’s in Palatine last Sunday and I’m pretty sure a good time was had by all. I know it will take me some time to work it off. You might give a try if you have a chance. June brings us to the…

Ethnic Eating – Important News
The country remains Austria. The date and time remain the same. The food remains German. The location, however, is completely different. For reasons that I will explain over some authentic German beer, Heidi’s was unable to accommodate our group so we will be meeting at 4:30 pm on Sunday, May 21st at SCHNELL’S BRAUHAUS at 45 SLADE STREET, PALATINE, IL. Consider this a test of your flexibility in exigent circumstances. If this substitution changes your desire to attend, please let me…

From Kevin Sweeney, Interim Treasurer
Since February the Financial Committee has been hard at work putting together the proposed budget for the 2023-2024 fiscal year. Our church operates on a fiscal year beginning July 1st and ending June 30th. Each year we reach out to committees and groups to ask how much funding they want for the next year, and also use the amounts provided by the Stewardship folks to enter pledges and calculate expected income. We check those amounts against recent payments to ensure they…

You may be a dinner companion whom I’ve awkwardly asked to gift me your leftover broccoli stems or tamale wrappers. You may be a coworker whose banana peel has been tucked away in my empty lunch container next to an apple core.It all ends up in my backyard compost pile, where you’ll also find my dedication…
