Fourth Sunday Styrofoam Collection Sunday, July 23

Please separate your CLEAN food grade Styrofoam from your packaging Styrofoam and bag as needed.  Styrofoam peanuts are NOT accepted.  Place your Styrofoam in the Prius with the open hatch in the church parking lot. Joe Masonick will be doing the collecting. We’ll drive it to Dart Container Corporation in North Aurora (open 24/7).  Please try to avoid using Styrofoam because its use is not sustainable. Many people manage to avoid it; indeed, entire countries do without it. Thank you! Mary Alice Masonick

Fashionably Late to the Party? An Informational LGBTQ Webinar

While being able to be open and authentic (when it is safe to do so) is ideal, for some LGBTIQA+ people this may not happen until much later in life. Sally Goldner AM (Australian Trans Advocate/DEI consultant), LaShana Lewis (DEI/Tech Consultant, queer/neurodivergent workplace advocate) and Julie Schurr (nonbinary growth/mindset/trauma coach, educator) are going to host a dynamic webinar to explore this largely un-addressed topic the evening of Thursday, July 20 at 9:00 p.m central. This 2 hour event will cover…

Ethnic Eating Update for August and September

So, twelve hearty souls turned into sixteen but the food and drink and Caribbean music didn’t disappoint. The country and food of Bahama were celebrated in true UU fashion and a good time ensued. Sorry if you missed but that brings up the next two opportunities which I mentioned last week.  On Sunday, August 27th, we will be dining at Al Bawadi at 8501 W. Dempster in Niles, Illinois to sample the foods of Bahrain and on Sunday, September 10th…

From the Board of Trustees

Hello all, As my term as the President of the Board of Trustees ends, I want to take a bit of time to reflect on the 2022-2023 church year. One of the biggest threads that I see running throughout the year is increased communication, both within the church and with our friends and neighbors outside of UUCE. The Board and Executive Team each had a representative attend the other team’s meetings, and, speaking for the Board, this greatly increased our…

Very Important Request from ET

We, on the Executive Team, believe that the vitality of our RE Program is crucial to our success as a religious community. We hope you share that perspective! We are currently involved in a search for a new Religious Education Coordinator. Our goal is to have someone in that role for the upcoming church year. The formation…

From the UUA’s Braver/Wiser Courage and Compassion for Life As It Is

The Sacred TruthRev. Zeb Green “What I really want is for all the many gendered possibilities in the world to be, not normal, but rather profoundly ordinary and familiar.”—Eli Clare, in Exile and Pride It was my first Sunday in the pulpit of the congregation that I serve. I’m not typically a worship leader and felt particularly nervous this Sunday—not because of preaching, but because it was my first time taking a public role while wearing a skirt and presenting as more…

Ethnic Eating; July, August & September

On Sunday July 9th, 12 hearty (and, hopefully, hungry) adventurers will be visiting Bahama Breeze in Schaumburg at 1 pm. A tasting report will follow next week.  If you are not among the lucky few for this month, hopefully one of our next selections will tickle you taste buds, and you’ll join us. On Sunday, August 27th, we will be dining at Al Bawadi at 8501 W. Dempster in Niles, Illinois to sample the foods of Bahrain and on Sunday,…
