Bienvenidos a Elgin

Last fall UUCE collected and delivered 3 Apartment Kits for Centro de Informacion’s Bienvenidos a Elgin project, a grant-funded effort to assist asylum-seeking migrant families new to the area. Centro de Informacion has to date housed 62 migrant families, and the Apartment Kits that we and other churches provided were extremely helpful to those families who had no household items.  There continue to be additional families still in need of housing so Centro is again seeking additional Apartment Kits.   We are launching…

Religious Education (RE)

This coming Sunday, June 2, is the last Religious Education class before the summer break. The lesson is “The Future and Me,” and the students will explore the questions, “what will I be like 50 years from now, and what will the world be like?” We will end with a celebration. Did you Know?

Did you know that UUCE maintains a small inventory of durable medical equipment for the use of UUCE members and friends? Durable medical equipment is “any medical equipment used in the home to aid in a better quality of living.” Our “loaner” closet, located on the third floor, has the following items available: There is a simple sign out/return list to keep track of the items, and there is no fee for using them. 2024 Elgin Pride

Join UUCE on Saturday, June 1, 2024 for Elgin’s Pride parade and festival. In June of 1970, on the one year anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, the first Pride marches were held in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. Today, Pride month and annual events are celebrated globally, with origins in LGBTQIA+ activism and organizing for equal rights.
