Music Sunday

Twice a year we come together to share our music with each other. Some come to perform music close to their heart, some to celebrate a musical achievement, and others to listen. Whatever your role, Music Sunday is our musical communion, bringing us together. Our first Music Sunday of the year will be March 22nd. If you would like to participate, please contact our Music director, Chelsea Musson by Sunday March 15th.

March & April Share the Plate Recipient: Earthjustice

Our Share the Plate recipient through April is Earthjustice. Founded in 1971, their environmental legal expertise wields the power of law and the strength of partnership to protect people’s health, preserve magnificent places and wildlife, advance clean energy, and combat climate change. Earthjustice opened its first Midwest office in 2020, here in Chicago. Following their earlier work advocating for passage and implementation of Illinois’ Coal Ash Pollution Prevention Act of 2019. That law created the regulatory framework to help compel…

Growing Together

The Stewardship Team had pledge forms available after the service. If you weren’t able to attend church on Sunday or didn’t pick up your envelope, don’t worry, your pledge form is coming in the mail soon. Once you receive it, please fill it…

Welcoming Conversations

Starting this Sunday, you’re invited to partake in a new and thought-provoking activity during Fellowship Hour, brought to you by our Welcoming Congregation Team. In an effort to ensure our church is a safe and welcoming space for people of all sexual orientations and gender identities, the team created “Welcoming Conversations” — an activity to inspire dialog about inclusivity, belonging, and the diversity of truths that exist within our communities. You’ll find these conversation-starting topics on the tables in Fellowship…

This Week in Religious Education

Dear Friends,As February winds down, I’ve been thinking about how quickly it went by. Valentine’s Day came and went in the blink of an eye, but the idea of love has remained on my mind. I wrote about love earlier this month, not in these exact words, but I’m not thinking about the flashy, once-a-year kind, but the everyday kind. I’m thinking about the kind of love that shows up in patience with a wiggly child, in honest conversations, in…

This Week in Religious Education

Dear Friends, The return to slightly colder weather this weekend and into next week feels like a gentle reminder that Mother Earth is still doing her quiet work. Even with that little warm-weather tease we just had (which had me dreaming about gardening and being outside more), it is still winter after all. I don’t know about you, but I have to remind myself that this time has a purpose. It’s a time to prepare. A time to rest. A…

This Week in Religious Education

Dear UUCE Community, As Valentine’s Day rolls around, I find myself thinking about how often love shows up in our Church—not as something flashy or sappy, but as something meaningful and readily practiced. The six UU Values and our Covenant are centered on love, calling us to open our hearts, care for one another, and show up with compassion and support, even when it isn’t easy.  I wanted to take a moment and reflect on how we share love at…
