Landscaping and Bonfire – Saturday!

This is a reminder that we have a Landscaping Workday followed by a Bonfire this Saturday (October 28).  The weather looks like it’s going to be perfect for outdoor work and a bonfire – partly cloudy and 52!  We’ll be starting at 3pm and focusing on taking care of some weeding around the Meditation Garden and the building.  If we have enough people, we can spread some woodchips as well.  Around 5pm we’ll start lighting the fire so that it’ll…

Walk after the Farmers Market

The Revitalization Team invites you, and your friends and family to come and take a leisurely stroll along the Fox River on Friday, August 18th.  We will start at the downtown Elgin Farmers Market on S. Riverside Drive, meeting at the UUCE booth.  At 7:00 pm we will start our walk, heading north along the river until we get to the dam at Kimball.  This is family-friendly, and will be at a slow pace along the bike path,  which is paved.

Save the Date—UUCE Community Picnic, June 11

Please plan to join us for a one-of-a-kind picnic celebration. We will be zipping over to Burnidge Woods Forest Preserve (2.2 miles from church) directly after the flower communion service on Sunday, June 11. The Revitalization Team invites you to potluck with us in honor of Mother’s Day!  The event will be held at the church the evening of Saturday, May 13th at 5:30pm. While it’s certainly not required, we encourage you to bring something that you loved eating while growing up.  Maybe a favorite dish your mother made?  Either way, please save the date and plan to spend some time feeding both body and heart with our beloved community.  More details to follow! The UUCE Youth Invite you to get clean! (April 2nd)

Well, not YOU exactly. But our church! Our intrepid UUCE Youth Group have scheduled an all church clean-up for Sunday, April 2nd after church.  They are busy coming up with detailed work for each room of the church and are looking for a whole host of volunteers to help get our beloved home sparkling again.  Do you have a couple hours to spare? Hygge Hangout

The Revitalization Team will be hosting a Hygge Hangout in Fellowship Hall on Friday, January 13, from 6:30 – 9:30 pm.  More information on what “hygge” is can be found in the last paragraph taken from a sermon that Stephen Day gave around this time last year.  In the spirit of hygge, we are keeping this simple.  We will provide warm lighting, tea and hot cocoa, and a few hygge activities such as small coloring or crafting materials.  Please feel…

The main activity of this task force was to look at how the church was functioning as a lay-led congregation.
