RT is making progress.

Hello friends! The smell of fresh tacos is still lingering after Sunday’s celebratory Homecoming Luncheon and I’m once again grateful for the incredible community we’ve got here. That had to be the largest attendance we’ve had since March 2020. I’m also grateful for my fellow Revitalization Teammates who dug deep to pull that event off… in spite of the weather and pandemic hurdles thrown at us. We welcomed Sarah Stultz to the RT and have been meeting twice a month…

Join us Sunday September 11th for UUCE’s Homecoming!

The tradition of Homecoming that we’re all familiar with started in 1910 at the University of Illinois as way of giving alumni and new students the opportunity to get closer to one another and realize the “real greatness of the University”. The members of the Revitalization Team think that sentiment fits perfectly for our much-anticipated return to UUCE after a summer of vacations and time off! The festivities will take place right after the Sunday Water Communion Service and all are welcome…

Family Cookout & Overnight Camping

The Revitalization Team invites you to another exciting family-friendly event at UUCE – this time a cookout and camping opportunity! We’ll meet at the church on Saturday, July 30th at 5pm for a potluck/cookout including a bonfire and a chance for outdoor games. Picnic, Fellowship and Little Church Visit

Dear friends,  The Revitalization Team invites you to a ‘bring your own lunch, drink and chair picnic’ after the service on Sunday, June 5th.  At 2pm following lunch and fellowship (under the shade of the trees out back), we are invited to the 104th Annual “Old Church Meeting” inside the little church in the cemetery next door to UUCE.  Chris Cudworth, Author and Artist will be their guest speaker, he will be focusing on Religion and Nature. My son, Ethan, started his first job on Monday.  It is a salaried position with benefits and everything!!  I can barely stand myself!!! Has a mother ever been so proud!?!    Ahem.  As I was saying…  Watching him take this first real step into adulthood makes me think back to when I got my first job.  I was just out of college and had moved into my first real apartment.  It was so freeing!  I could arrange the furniture however I…

From the Revitalization Team

Hello all! The Revitalization Team has been busy! In March, several members of our team attended ‘A Second Slice of Pi’, which was a virtual conference held by the UUA for small congregations. It was great to get together to share ideas with others that are having some of the same challenges as UUCE, and hear some fresh perspectives on how we can be more efficient and effective moving forward. Alongside this, the Revitalization Team has had several meetings with…

Family Movie Night

I hope you can join us for a Family Movie Night on Friday, April 15th (at 7pm).  We’ll be watching a movie at the church, but if you would like to join us online using a “group watch”, please let me know by April 8th so I can set it up for you.  As we get closer to the date, I’ll let everyone know what the movie is! (A “group watch” is a service that allows people to watch the same movie…

Congregation Photo this Sunday

Since Sunday is kind of a milestone day in our church history, the Revitalization Team would like to immortalize it by taking a photo after the service that captures the experience. We will be taking one from a high vantage point in the sanctuary to capture all the people that are joining us onsite, and we will also be including video screen captures of those who wish to be in the photo and are joining the service online. There will…

Spring has sprung, the grass is riz, I wonder where dem boidies iz? This silly saying pops into my mind every spring – can’t find an author to own up it! Our most exciting spring news right now is the Reopening Team’s announcement that an on-site service option will resume on March 20th! (We will still offer an online Zoom option for all services as well!) As I write this, statistics are still favorable and expected to improve. Thanks to…

Everything you do matters.  Each and every choice makes a difference.  Maybe it won’t be a huge difference.  Not every decision is going to be a do-I-move-across-the-country-and-take-that-new-job kind of choice.  But they all do make a little difference.  And cumulatively, these everyday choices determine what kind of life you have.  Do I eat a salad or a burger for lunch?  Do I bundle up and attend the church bonfire and spend time building community or do I stay at home, on the couch, and binge…
