April Board Update

In Attendance : Tom Lesiewicz, Kevin Sweeney, Erica Lavine, Steve Stultz , Elizabeth Olson, Jamie Yucuis, Rev. Leland New Business Minister’s Report We discussed the minister’s involvement in the UUMUA / 5th Principle Project. Review Music Director Job Description Kevin moved to accept the job description and offer letter, Jamie seconded. It was unanimously approved. The Chicago Area UU Council (CAUUC) Spring Conference; Re-opening and Reimagining Church

The Chicago Area UU Council (CAUUC) Spring Conference will be held on Saturday, May 8th 9:30am-11:30am and be conducted via Zoom video conference. There is NO FEE required to participate. The CAUUC annual meeting will be held after the conference. CONFERENCE TOPIC: Re-opening and Reimagining Church. We are 1 year into the pandemic and many congregations are in the planning stages of reopening the doors to in-person gatherings. UUCE Childcare Update

During the church closure we have been busy updating the childcare room. The walls were freshly painted. The old carpeting was replaced with an easy to clean and sanitize attractive flooring. About 80% of the old toys were removed and donated. The closet was cleaned out and organized. The little bathroom was painted and reorganized and is ready for use. We are creating a new system to keep our childcare room as clean, safe, and comfortable as possible for the…

4th Sunday Styrofoam Collection

Fourth Sunday Styrofoam Collection! April 25 12:00 to 12:30 pm in UUCE parking lot   I will collect CLEAN Styrofoam to transport to Dart Container Corporation in North Aurora. Please separate your clean, food grade foam from your packaging foam. Load the food grade foam into the  Prius labeled “Food Grade” and load the packaging foam into the Prius labeled “Packaging Foam.”  In December, both cars were full of foam!– Mary Alice Masonick

Mitch Jacobs Has Passed Away

We announce with sorrow the sudden death from stroke of Mitch Jacobs, beloved long-time member of our Church. He is survived by wife Janette, daughter Erin (Will) Flachbart, stepdaughter Heather (Scott) Avery, and two step- granddaughters, Claire, and Charlotte.  Mitch is also survived by his two brothers, Robert, and Stuart Jacobs Janette’s daughter and granddaughter have been at her side for the past three days. Henny DuBois

Our dear friend Henny DuBois passed away Monday night, March 22, from natural causes. Henny survived COVID this past December, proving how strong-willed she was. She was 90. Henny was a devoted member of UUCE for decades, leading the Food Pantry collections, Aesthetics Team, and more. She was a programmer, mother of five, gardener, photographer and theater/museum patron, as well as a dear friend to many. A full obituary and plans for a memorial will follow.  Messages may be sent…
