Ethnic Eating Update

There is nothing new to report on January’s trip to Waukegan for a Taste of Belize.  I do want to get out the information on February’s selection for the country of Benin. We will be going to Qatar African Restaurant at 7118 N Clark Street in Chicago on Saturday, February 17th at 2:30. This restaurant is closed on Sundays so we selected a midafternoon time to avoid any lunchtime rush and still be able to get home before dark. Please let…

More information on what “hygge” is can be found at the end of this email from a sermon that Stephen Day gave around this time in 2021. In the spirit of hygge, we are keeping this simple. We will provide warm…

Ethnic Eating Update

I really haven’t felt like writing about food lately much less tasting it. However, on Sunday afternoon, Kathy, Lydia Larrabee, Diana March and I traveled down to Hopleaf Bar on Clark Street to sample the cuisine of Belgium. There we enjoyed Belgium-style mussels and Belgium-style frites along with Belgium beers and ales. Absolutely delicious and a wonderful experience.  On January 21st we will try A Taste of Belize in Waukegan at 2207 Grand Avenue. Please let me know of your interest by January…

A full explanation of the program can be found by the signup sheet.  The signup deadline is November 1.

Ethnic Eating Update

Well, the 12 became 8 but the food at Mariscos El Charco remained superb as the another visit to Caribbean (this time Barbados) cuisine occurred. No photos were made because everyone was too busy consuming seafood to stop for such mundane matters. If you haven’t visited this local Elgin eatery, try to take it in. It’s well worth your time. And that brings us to Belarus. We will be frequenting November’s selection at Belarusian Restaurant Visilki at 250 McHenry Road, Wheeling, IL at…
