Email List Rules
As outlined in our Electronic Communications policies periodically we are to publish the email list rules. They are below.
Participation in the UUCE’s e-mail lists is a privilege and not a right. The UUCE Executive Team reserves the right to suspend participants from lists who violate the below standards and rules. These rules will be communicated to all participants by the List Manager.
Participants must be a member or friend of UUCE. [A friend of the church is someone who participates in church worship and activities and makes an annual financial contribution of record.]
Participants agree not to post anything that is abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually oriented or any material that may violate any applicable laws. Doing so may lead to being permanently banned from the list.
General Etiquette Rules
- “Sign” your message with your real name.
- Avoid use of capital letters in e-mails. These can be interpreted as shouting.
- Do not forward a participant’s message to other e-mail lists without the participant’s knowledge and approval.
- Be respectful of every member and their viewpoint.
If a participant violates the rules of the e-list they will be contacted by the List Manager and the nature of the violation explained. If that same participant violates the rules again, they will be given a warning that if they have another violation they will lose the privilege of participating in the e-list. The List Manager will keep a written record of violations and her/his responses.
