Only 3 years in the making, the Ethnic Eating group finally made it to the Mercat a la Planxa restaurant to try Catalon cuisine. It was worth the wait! Tapas and paella and tons of flavor made for an enjoyable evening. If you were unable to go with the group, I’d highly recommend it to go on your own.
Now to news of October’s dining opportunity. For October, the country is Angola, located on the west coast of southern Africa. In all candor, I have been unable to locate a Chicago area restaurant which is specifically Angolan but I have chosen Vee Vee’s African Restaurant at 6232 North Broadway in Chicago which specializes in West African dishes. As previously announced, we will going at 5 pm on October 15th. If you wish to attend, let me know at dwhislip@gmail.com by October 8th. The prices are moderate.
I’ve already announced the country for November is Anguilla and the restaurant will be Bahama Breeze in Schaumburg. However, to facilitate coordination for carpooling, I am going to switch the date and time to 1:30 pm on Sunday the 13th so we can leave from church. Again, let me know if you wish to attend.
Finally, the country for December is Argentina. The problem is definitely not finding Argentine restaurant but rather narrowing it down. If you have a suggestion of a restaurant with great Argentine food and space to accommodate a largish group, let me know. Otherwise, you’re going to be stuck with my choice.
Bon appetit.
Peace,
Dan
