I wanted to check in and give you an update on what your Board of Trustees has been working on. With the church closed I feel like we have less opportunity to get the word out on what we’re doing, and I sometimes forget that people would like to know what direction the Church is headed!
We recently held a meeting that combined the Executive Team, the Revitalization Committee and the Board to discuss how we could all work together and improve communication between us. It was a very productive meeting with a lot of good suggestions and helped us on the Board with our direction moving forward. The Board is going to concentrate on putting together a 3-5 year plan, focusing on how we should be run as a lay led congregation and start laying a pathway to eventually bring a minister back to our church. We’ll also be working with the Revitalization Committee on plans to bring the church back to what it used to be (and new ideas on what it could be) as we head towards re-opening on the 20th, as well as looking at ways to bring in new members. We also intend to look at making changes to our by-laws and policies to guide us on how to run a lay led congregation.
We’re always looking for people to help, and board member Tom Leciewicz has graciously volunteered to call church members to see how they might be able to help. If you get a call from Tom please be open minded and consider how you might be able to help your church community. In my years at UUCE I’ve made some great friendships and felt closer to the church by volunteering my time, I hope you’ll consider it as well.
As always if you have any questions or have anything you’d like to discuss with me or the board please feel free to reach out. My phone number is in the church directory, as well as my email address.
