Good News — Please Read! In-Person Reopening Celebration Service Planned for Sunday, October 17

We are excited to announce that reopening is near! Wednesday evening the Reopening Team met and determined that COVID-19 metrics are in alignment to reopen the church. While Kane County and surrounding areas still carry “high” COVID risk levels, key metrics have been declining for several weeks and it appears that we can carefully begin to meet in person again. October 17th has been chosen as our first in-person service date since the pandemic shut us down. Please note this is subject to change if metrics move in the wrong direction.

Aptly, this service will be our Annual Intergenerational Water Communion. As most of you know, for Water Communion all are welcome to bring water from summer travels or meaningful events to mingle with the waters from past years services as we celebrate being together again. We will follow State and CDC safety guidelines: all adults and children 3 years and older are required to wear a face mask covering the mouth and nose. We will be setting up the sanctuary for social distancing and air flow (windows open and fans moving the air so please dress appropriately), and we ask folks to practice social distancing in the church. We will be following the UUA guidelines by not having live singing during the service at this time.

There will be no Religious Education scheduled for October 17. Please see Marjorie our new RE Coordinator to register your children and youth for our upcoming RE program. Marjorie will have a table set up for registration.

After the service, we strongly recommend folks move outside to visit. Sorry, but we will not have a Fellowship Hour in Fellowship Hall, and no coffee, drinks or food will be served. You may bring your own refreshments to consume outdoors if you wish. Maybe the shady area under the trees in the back might be nice?

We hope you will plan to come, as we are so looking forward to seeing all of you again in real life! We ask everyone to cooperate with our safety measures so we can continue in-person services. Please remember our goal in decision making is to protect the most vulnerable so that our services can be open to all.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding during these challenging times.
