How’s Religious Education (RE) going?

How’s Religious Education (RE) going?

“How’s Religious Education (RE) going?” I get this question a lot, and it’s a tough one to answer.

On the one hand, it’s been a wonderful couple of months with our Youth Group. I know you all know this already, but the Youth of UUCE are caring, smart, fascinating people and it’s a joy to get to spend time with them during RE Classes. Since we started meeting every other week again, they have spent time playing games and getting to know each other, hearing from guest speakers, talking about self-care strategies, and choosing our community’s Share the Plate partners every other month. They seem to get a lot out of having a shared space to check in about each others’ lives. This coming Sunday, they’ll be venturing outdoors to pick up litter along our stretch of Highland Ave – we are truly lucky to have kids like this taking care of our community.

On the other hand, we have been missing our Littles! Since RE started back up again at the end of September, we have only had one student show up for our 11 and under class. We love and miss our younger community members and hope to have them back in class soon! We have some awesome class ideas in the hopper and are ready for them to join us whenever they are back.

It’s been a little bit of a mixed bag, but we are excited and ready for all of our kids and youth – whenever they’re ready for us!
