Citizen’s Climate Lobby
At our last Board of Trustees meeting on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, the Board of Trustees voted to endorse federal legislation H.R. 2307. Thanks to Mary Alice Masonick, a longtime UUCE member and advocate with Citizens Climate Lobby, for her activism, and for sharing this vital work with us.
A Climate Change Organization
We exist to create the political will for climate change solutions by enabling individual breakthroughs in the exercise of personal and political power.
Citizens’ Climate Lobby is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, grassroots advocacy climate change organization focused on national policies to address climate change.
Our consistently respectful, nonpartisan approach to climate education is designed to create a broad, sustainable foundation for climate action across all geographic regions and political inclinations. By building upon shared values rather than partisan divides, and empowering our supporters to work in keeping with the concerns of their local communities, we work towards the adoption of fair, effective, and sustainable climate change solutions.
In order to generate the political will necessary for passage of the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act we train and support volunteers to build relationships with elected officials, the media and their local community.
In a Nutshell: The Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act will rapidly drive down climate-warming emissions by taxing polluters and then dividing that money into ‘carbon cash back’ payments to American households. This incentivizes businesses, investors, and consumers to seek out the best ways to cut emissions without placing an undue cost burden on low- and middle-income Americans.
