At the direction of the Executive Team, a task force has been formed to manage the planning for reopening the church later this year. The committee’s members are Mila Brinker (Church Administrator) and members Beth Cooper-Zobott and Erica Lavine. Mila knows the building and its members like almost no one else; Beth has received certification as a COVID-19 Compliance Officer, and Erica is a safety manager at a local corporation.
Once the State of Illinois enters Phase 4 of its COVID-19 plan, gatherings with 50 people or fewer will be permitted. The team is working on policies and procedures for staff, congregants, guests, and all others who access the physical church building (such as equipment and service providers); for cleaning and sanitation protocols; physical distancing, signage, and more. Additionally, changes in our Childcare Room policies will be made to provide for the safest possible conditions for our youngest members.
We are all looking forward to the time when we can resume meeting together at our beloved Prairie Cathedral in person. More updates will be shared on the UUCE website, and through the Unichord.
