YWCA of Elgin Giving Tree Project

November will be the second month that the YWCA of Elgin is the recipient of our Share The Plate collection.  We are committed to supporting the Giving Tree project again this year.  As you know, our attendance at church services has lessened during the pandemic, which naturally impacts the number of donations to our Share The Plate monthly collection.  By extending the YWCA’s funding into a second month, we hope that returning to in-person services will gradually increase attendance, and also, donations, to this worthy cause. Those who wish to participate directly in the Giving Tree should watch for news updates about our list of children on a Sign-Up Genius form coming in mid November.

This year we will give each child a gift certificate for clothing and fulfill their special wish for a toy and a book.  Whether you want to be a Secret Santa and purchase these gifts for a child of your choice or want to contribute funds that can be used to purchase clothing gift certificates or allow volunteer shoppers to do this on your behalf, we hope that everyone will consider contributing to the YWCA again this month.  All the money will be used to make the Giving Tree a success and to support the wonderful programs provided by the YWCA.  Thank you for your generosity!

YWCA of Elgin

Every year we work together to support the mission of the YWCA of Elgin by collecting funds and participating in their “Giving Tree” Program.

YWCA Mission

YWCA Elgin is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.We will get a head start this season by collecting funds in October and starting our Secret Santa shopping in November. We do this on behalf of youngsters in the youth program.  Those who wish to purchase gifts themselves will be able to get a head start on shopping in order to deal with challenges in the supply chain and delivery delays, and other folks who would rather not shop can donate money for children’s gifts that some willing members will shop for on their behalf.  Programs of the YWCA include:

  • Citizenship Services
  • ESL Family Literacy
  • COVID-19 Assistance & Resources
  • School Age Child Care
  • Workforce Development
  • and YWCA Elgin is now a proud provider of “Tiny Boots,” free childcare for Veterans!
