The Abbey’s are our new Pantry Volunteers

The Abbey family stepped up to take over Norm Wilkinson’s volunteer job of transporting donations from UUCE to the All-Peoples Interfaith Pantry at First Congregational Church. Thank you, Norm Wilkinson, for your many years of organizing and delivering our donations to the pantry and thank you Jen, Ross, and Adrian for taking over this important job!

Dirty Dozen & Clean Fifteen for 2024

Each year, the Environmental Working Group evaluates fruits and vegetables for those with the most and least pesticides.  Sadly, strawberries still lead the list as the most contaminated produce. It’s best to eat organic strawberries. Be in the know and protect your health and the health of your family!  The 2024 Dirty Dozen and Clean Fifteen can be viewed via the link below.  Printed copies of the lists can be picked up in Fellowship Hall. Printed copies of the lists…

Bienvenidos a Elgin – WOW!

The outpouring of support at UUCE again for migrant families is very impressive!  Almost every item for this round has been claimed already!   Our only outstanding items are 4 pillows and a tool box (with screw drivers, hammer, scissors, tape, pliers, wrench and any other basic tool essential in a home). If you would like to provide the tool box, please use the Sign-on Genius  https://bit.ly/uucewelcomepart2 If you would like to provide any of the pillows, watch for additional…

All Peoples Interfaith Pantry Donations on Hold

We would like to thank member Norm Wilkinson for his many years of volunteering to be the church’s All-Peoples Interfaith Pantry organizer and delivering our donations. Unfortunately, Norm is no longer able to take on this task.   We are looking for someone who is committed to organizing this social justice opportunity and occasionally write an announcement for the newsletter.  If you are able to take on this important volunteer opportunity, please email administrator@uuce.org.

Clean Styrofoam can be dropped off at Chicago Logistics Service, 701 Wesemann Dr., West Dundee (off of IL 72). (They take it to the same place we were, Dart Container Corporation…

1st Quarter Share the Plate

Christmas In July, August and September. For our 1st quarter of the new fiscal year, we have chosen the YWCA of Elgin’s Giving Tree as the recipient of our Share the Plate collection. We are collecting early to give the YWCA plenty of time to prepare for their important program and this also gives our dedicated Finance Committee time to collect your donations and prepare the check for the recipient. Instead of doing the shopping ourselves, we hope to raise at least $800 to be…

We will provide a catered Mexican lunch from Emily’s – we ask that you bring non-alcoholic drinks and/or dessert to share! Other Suggestions:• Bring games (e.g.…

 Bienvenidos a Elgin

Our effort to collect another complete Apartment Kit this month at UUCE is under way!  We are again collecting household items for an immigrant family awaiting asylum. While 62 families have been housed to date through the efforts of Centro de Informacion, there are many more waiting.  These Kits make a huge difference to families who have so little. Many thanks to everyone who has pledged so far to bring items! To see what is needed and to choose items…
