Join the Book Discussion Group

The Book Discussion Group has been meeting once a month continuously since 1993 to discuss a wide range of books, both fiction and non-fiction. As the pandemic eases, the group is returning to meeting in a member’s home, where they host a potluck lunch. Each book is selected by the entire group, and membership is open to all members and friends of UUCE who enjoy a good book. UU History Renaissance Module Date & time: Wednesday, July 7, 2021, 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm CST The UU History Renaissance module will be offered in an online format on Wednesdays July 7, 14, 21, 28, and August 4 and 11 at 12 – 2pm CST. Community Crisis Center

The Share the Plate recipient for the month of June is: The Community Crisis Center The Gretchen S. Vapnar Community Crisis Center was founded in 1975 to meet the needs of individuals and families in crisis. Employees provide comprehensive services to individuals and families suffering due to domestic violence, sexual assault, or economic difficulties. Pads Lunch June Sign Up

Following is the link to the June signup schedule for PADS lunches. There are 4 Mondays in June. Thanks in advance for your help. Also be aware that when you deliver food on Mondays, there may be other people delivering food for dinners. This is because PADS has reduced staff at this point and are only answering the door around lunchtime.

I will be creating the June schedule for PADS lunches and am still looking for someone to take over the scheduling task for UUCE. Please contact me ASAP if you are interested. Fourth Sunday Styrofoam Collection!

Jeremy Fixemer has offered to collect the Styrofoam this Sunday afternoon, May 23, from 3:00-3:30 pm. The reason for the later time is due to the congregational meeting at noon. He will collect CLEAN Styrofoam to transport to Dart Container Corporation in North Aurora. Please separate your clean, food grade foam from your packaging foam. – Mary Alice Masonick

Reopening Update

We’ve missed you!  The Executive Team is excited to share with the community our reopening update. Our Reopening Task Force consisted of Erica Lavine, Safety Specialist, Beth Cooper Zobott, Professional Meeting Organizer Certified in Safety, and Mila Brinker, Church Administrator. The Executive Team relied extensively on the Task Force’s recommendations.   In-person services We have continued with online services, following the guidelines of the UUA to protect the most vulnerable in our community. We are hoping to welcome everyone back to in-person services after Labor Day in early September.  We are watching the statistics on local community spread and vaccinations to judge whether this reopening will be feasible.  We have also…

Public Action to Deliver Shelter

This month’s Share the Plate recipient is Public Action to Deliver Shelter (PADS) PADS works to meet the basic needs of homeless individuals first. They provide a safe place to sleep, eat meals, take showers, and do their laundry. The next step is to provide comprehensive case management. Case managers meet with each guest and together, an action plan is created by identifying the barriers which led to the person becoming homeless. Action plans are tailored to each individual and…
